Now that we are well and truly into the winter months and unless you live in a warm climate – this time of year can begin to feel like quite a challenge. The weather is cold, the days are short, and often we find ourselves spending far more time indoors than we might like… Here are five of my favorite tips to help shift your focus, make the most of our remaining winter months, and help you emerge powerfully this spring.

1. Do What Nature Does

Look around you and observe what is happening in the natural world. If you live in a colder climate notice that much of what surrounds you is in a state of hibernation. There is a reason for this – now is the perfect time to recharge your body by going to bed early, turning inwards, and slowing down. There will be plenty of time to get a million things done as the days get longer and spring arrives.

2. Start Spring Cleaning Early

Why wait until it warms up to get a head start on your spring cleaning? Now is a great time to focus your efforts on de-cluttering your home and workspace. Have a quick look around – what are you no longer using or no longer like? Clearing out items which no longer serve us is a very powerful way of inviting new possibility into our lives. What would you like to invite into your life beginning this spring?

3. Make the Most of the Indoors

Now is the perfect time to make your indoor living experience as pleasurable as possible – this applies both to your home environment and the office. Tackle those home projects you’ve been putting off – it will give you an enhanced sense of satisfaction, ease, and enjoyment as well as make your time indoors more enjoyable.

4. Get Away & Gain Perspective

While you may feel trapped by the winter weather now, it’s important to remember that this is just a phase. Soon the weather will improve and you will, most likely, have a very different perspective on life because of it. Getting away to a warmer and, perhaps, more exotic location can dramatically boost your mood and shift your experience. You will come back with a fresh outlook, renewed energy, and feeling happier.

5. Build Your Summer Body Now

Make the most of your time indoors at the gym and start building your summer body now – why wait until spring or early summer to get clear on your fitness goals and develop the type of muscle tone you crave? Now is a great time to develop your physical fitness routine and work off some of that stress and restlessness you may be experiencing. There is no better time than the present to begin achieving your dreams, desires, and optimized physique.

Here’s to maximizing your productivity this winter!
